I don’t consult experts, I do a lot of reading on the Internet because I’m not trying to teach somebody how to pick a lock. I need to know just enough about it to make sure that I’m not saying something stupid and then move on, because otherwise it turns into The Anarchist Cookbook or something.
— Taylor
In this week’s episode, Taylor responds to listener questions regarding research and searching out experts and what an author should do to prepare himself to write in a different genre. We discuss things like writing to market, Taylor’s research into Blackphones and her growing love of video as a teaching tool.

On the subject of Internet privacy (and the near-total lack thereof), the book No Place by Hide by Glenn Greenwalt and documentary Citizenfour by Laura Poitras are most impressive (and terrifying). They are the journalists whom Snowden worked with.
Snowden also gave an inspiring, at least to me, keynote at a free software conference (see https://gnu.org) a couple years ago (from Russia): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aTHdbRXK3Q
It is not a technical talk.
Just passing on in case either of you might be interested. It is so sad, and alarming, and bizarre, to me that apparently the vast majority of people are fine with being so completely monitored by the government. I don’t understand!

Thanks Karl – Internet privacy information is always appreciated. You’re right – It is amazing how little we care about privacy in all ways today.
