So much of research is expanding your horizons beyond what you know to create characters and locations that feel real, even if you don’t know anything about them, or you don’t know people like that.
— Taylor
In this episode, we discuss the results of the listener question from our last show, where we asked if you wanted us to keep the informal chit-chat we do at the beginning of each show, or to move it to the end, so we could get right to the topic. then we discuss what happened over the holidays (note the chit chat remains at the beginning) before getting to this week’s topic of research.
Our discussion of research not only covers the obvious, research on cool things like how to blow up cars, like Taylor did in THE DOLL but also things people, settings and getting comfortable writing about characters where you have a limited frame of reference.
